This week at AAM
January has started as December finished – frantic, with no slowing down, as is the norm at this time of year. Hopefully a good indication of what is to come. There has been ’opening night’ a plenty. Joshua Horner’s A Chorus Line opened in Adelaide (with great reviews for Josh) and then we had both Mary Poppins in Brisbane for Natalie Gamsu (Miss Andrews) and Jodie Harris (ensemble and cover for Mrs Banks) and Annie. Anna Freeland features wonderfully as ‘A Star To Be’ in Annie, her debut musical. This week is also the Sydney opening for Paul Tabone as a ‘Misfit’ in Love Never Dies. Trevor Ashley opened the Sydney Festival this past weekend and Peter Cousens starts rehearsals for Darlinghurst Theatre’s Paris Letter.
It is with absolute delight that I welcome recent graduates and great talent to AAM. We are thrilled to have recent WAAPA grad, the wonderul Simon Blake Loughton join the team. We’re also thrilled to be working with Jason Ford and Bryce Halliday from AIM (Bryce was recently chosen as one of 2 winners at the 9th annual Cabaret Showcase). Another ‘mega-talent’ is Brad Carroll who has been touring with The Wiggles and two phenomenonal talents, who were also finalists in the 9th Cabaret Showcase, the fresh and excting talent of Maryann Wright and the beautiful and acclaimed soprano Jessica O’Donoghue. And it is with much excitement that AAM is now working with the Darren Carr, star of Broadway and showbiz royalty.
