Damon G. Wade

Damon is a graduate from the Australian Institute of Music (AIM) in Sydney, with a Bachelor of Music (Music Theatre). Most recently, Damon played the role of Claude in Exclaim Theatre Company’s production of ‘Hair’. Previously, he has played Warner in ‘Legally Blonde’ (Free-Rain Theatre Company, directed by Derek Walker), Mark in ‘RENT’ (AIM, directed by Tyran Parke), and Ensemble in ‘Sweeney Todd’ (AIM, directed by Stuart Maunder). During his time at AIM, Damon was cast as George Gershwin for the workshop of a new Australian musical ‘King of the Air’ by Gavin Lockley and Ann Blainey. He was also a backing vocalist for the cast recording and the World Premiere concert performance at Sydney’s Angel Place Recital Hall. In the last year, he has secured a spot in a corporate act called ‘Jersey 2 Motown’ and acted as director assistant for Neil Rutherford’s and the world premiere of ‘Beyond Desire’ featuring Nancye Hayes. Damon is also an accomplished pianist. He has played for ‘Oklahoma’, ‘Grease’, ‘Oliver’, ‘Nine’ as Assistant Musical Director (AIM) directed by Barry Quin, ‘Anyone Can Whistle’ and ‘Little Women’. Other performance credits include; backing vocalist for The Premiers Gala Concert 2013 musically directed by Max Lambert, recording vocalist for Animals Australia television commercial musically directed by Russell Finch, a soloist and recipient of an annual grant at the Opera and Arts Support Group Gal Dinner in Sydney in 2013, and vocalist for the Australian premiere of ‘Christmas At The House’ produced by Ken Laing. Damon continues to hone his assets to rise through as many areas as possible in the Australian Music Theatre scene.
