Johanna Allen

Since studying for both drama and music degrees, Johanna Allen has worked professionally in musical theatre, opera, film, television, cabaret and the theatre stage.

As a vocalist, she continues to work across all musical genres and as a soloist her concert engagements include the Montreal Jazz Festival, the New York Musical Theatre Festival, Womadelaide, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Australian Pops Orchestra, the Ruby Frost Quartet, as well as performances at the Basement (Sydney), Bennett’s Lane (Melbourne) and in concert with Matthew Carey, David Helfgott, Michael Buble, and Jason Robert Brown.

Her group cabaret performances also include Flat on Your Bacharach and she is co-founder of Acclaimed Cabaret Trio Gentlemen Prefer Curves. Following on from her musical study at Juilliard School, her New York Theatre credits include: Into the Woods (Red Riding Hood), Amadeus (Constanza directed by F Murray Abraham), Mass (New York City Opera) as well as Cabaret performances at Don’t Tell Mama and Birdland New York.

Recent Australian credits include Pitti Sing (The Mikado) opposite Anthony Warlow as well as Kate (The Pirates of Penzance) also with Anthony Warlow and David Hobson (DVD Recording and National Tour), and she is currently part of the Australian cast of the hit Broadway musical Wicked playing at the Capitol Theatre..
