Darren Mapes

Darren Mapes is a graduate of UNE-NR Lismore (now Southern Cross University).
Darren most recently appeared in Neil Gooding/Matt Henderson’s production of Thank You For Being A Friend. He toured throughout 2015 with the acclaimed show Back To Bacharach, alongside Casey Donovan, Doug Williams and Hayley Jenson. He is co-writer and musical director of Deb Krizak’s show Cabbaret – a documentary about ABBA. He is also co- writer and star of one of Australia’s most loved cabaret and corporate acts The Carpenters From Kempsey. Darren has been an accompanist for singers such as Monique Montez, Tamara Jaber, Mary Kiani, Belinda Chapple, Jacinta Gulisano, David Campbell, Maggie Dense and many more. He has been resident in the piano bar at both the Polo Lounge and the infamous Piano Room and most recently was resident at the late night piano bar for the Slide Cabaret Festival. Darren has over 20yrs experience as an actor, singer, musician, and has become one of Australia’s most sought after vocal coaches. He is head of Singing and is the co-ordinator for Brent Street’s new Diploma of Musical Theatre.
